Remembered for her caring nature, dedication to others, and vibrant personality, Engy’s loss is being felt deeply by everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Engy Garcia, also known to many as Engelys Garcia Benitez, built a life centered around compassion, service, and family. Throughout her career, she devoted herself to helping others, working with organizations and schools that reflected her caring spirit. Since 2017, she had been employed with Access Community Action Agency, where her kindness and commitment made a positive impact on the lives of many in the community.
In addition to her professional work, Engy was also a small business owner through her venture “Crcosby_ElianisMom,” a reflection of both her entrepreneurial spirit and her love for family. Friends and loved ones describe her as hardworking, determined, and deeply devoted to the people closest to her.
Her passion for helping children and supporting others could be seen throughout her life. She previously worked as a teacher’s aide at Jennings School, served as a teaching assistant at Fitch High School in Groton, and worked as a child care worker at Waterford Country School Foster Care. In each role, she brought patience, warmth, and compassion to those she served, leaving lasting impressions on students, families, and colleagues alike.
A graduate of New London High School, Engy continued pursuing education and personal growth through studies at Porter and Chester Institute and ABC Animal Behavior College. She embraced learning and carried a strong desire to build a meaningful future for herself and those she loved.
Beyond her work and studies, Engy will be remembered most for her love of family and her ability to make people feel welcome and cared for. Her bilingual ability in both English and Spanish allowed her to connect with many throughout the community, and her kindness transcended every space she entered.
