The community of Sioux City is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Julee Vermilye Zugel, who tragically passed away following a car accident. Her death has left family, friends, coworkers, and loved ones devastated as they remember a woman whose kindness, strength, and generosity touched countless lives.

Julee served as Director of Strategic Sourcing at Wells Enterprises (Blue Bunny Ice Cream), where she was respected not only for her professionalism and leadership but also for the compassion and encouragement she showed to those around her. Originally connected to both Iowa and Michigan, Julee pursued her education at Western Michigan University, where she studied Business Administration while working full time at Perrigo, demonstrating the determination and resilience that would define her life. She also attended Eastern Illinois University earlier in her academic journey.

Family members describe Julee as the “rock” of the family — someone whose greatest joy came from helping others and caring deeply for those she loved. Her devotion to family, especially her beloved grandson Zach, was evident in everything she did. Funeral services for Julee Vermilye Zugel will be held on Saturday, May 9, at Meyer Brothers Funeral Home on Hamilton Boulevard in Sioux City, with visitation scheduled from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. followed by the service at 5 p.m. A second memorial service will later be held in Allegan.

Though her passing leaves profound sorrow, Julee’s legacy of kindness, love, and service to others will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest peacefully.
